Huawei Developer Competition 2024 - Asia Pacific Region
The Huawei Developer Competition 2024 - Asia Pacific Region is Huawei's flagship annual event for global ICT developers, designed to encourage students, developers, and enterprises to create innovative, real-world solutions using Huawei Cloud technologies. The competition promotes problem-solving, collaboration, and the growth of a robust cloud ecosystem.
Under the Student Track category, Lakmina Gamage , Sankha Bimsara, Thinuri Wijesekara, Vishwani Bhagya, and Iman secured the Champions title in 2025, demonstrating exceptional technical skills, innovation, and teamwork among participants from across the Asia Pacific region.

Tech Triathlon by RootCode
The Rootcode Tech Triathlon 2024 is an annual Sri Lankan technology competition that challenges teams to build innovative digital products by combining software engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and UX/design skills.
Structured in three phases designathon, hackathon, and datathon the event allows participants to demonstrate technical expertise, creativity, and teamwork while gaining industry-relevant experience.
Dushan Jalath, Udara Bandara, Malinda Rathnayaka, Ravindu Weerasinghe, Nisal Ravindu, Ravindu Pabasara,Tharindu Sathsara, Mihin Premarathne and Ashani Sansala from Batch 21, representing Team X Order, secured the Champion title in 2024, marking a significant achievement and highlighting their exceptional skills and collaboration across multiple tech disciplines.

SLIIT Codefest DevQuest 2024
DevQuest 2024, part of SLIIT Codefest, is a premier international online hackathon under the Tertiary category that highlights the talent, creativity, and innovation of undergraduate and postgraduate students from universities and institutes worldwide. The competition challenges participants to develop innovative solutions while showcasing their technical skills and teamwork.
Himesh Shiwantha, Haritha Weerathunga, Nipun Milinda, and Dasun Madusanka secured the Champions title in 2024, demonstrating exceptional problem-solving abilities, creativity, and collaboration among participants from across the globe.

TADHack 2024 (hSenidMobile)
TADHack Sri Lanka 2024, organized by hSenidMobile, is a prestigious hackathon that challenges teams to develop innovative telecommunications and software solutions, encouraging creativity, technical skills, and real-world problem-solving.
Team DevDynasty secured the Champions title in 2024, with Sampath Samaraweera, Sathsara Sithum, Gihani Wijekoon, and Chamodi Welmilla showcasing exceptional innovation, teamwork, and technical expertise throughout the competition.

Duothan (InnovaThon 4.0)
Duothan (InnovaThon 4.0) 2024 is a competitive hackathon that challenges teams to showcase their innovation, problem-solving skills, and creativity through real-world projects and technical solutions.
Team Heisenberg secured the Champions title in 2024, with Himesh Shiwantha, Chathupa Dewasirinarayana, Shenali Gamage and Chathura Abeygunawardhana demonstrating exceptional dedication, teamwork, and innovative thinking throughout the competition.

J'Pura Xtream 1.0 (IEEE USJ)
J'Pura Xtream 1.0 was organized by the IEEE Computer Society at the University of Sri Jayawardhanapura. The competition consisted of a preliminary selection and a 6-hour Grand Finale.
Out of more than 100 participating teams, Dinuka Malitha and Ashan Matheesha from FIT Batch 21, representing Team Code Crackers, qualified for the top 10 and ultimately won the Champions title in the Grand Finale.

AlgoXplore 1.0 (NSBM Green University)
AlgoXplore 1.0, organized by NSBM Green University, was an intensive five-hour competitive coding event that tested participants through a combination of programming and cybersecurity challenges.
In the 2024 edition of AlgoXplore 1.0, Shenali Gamage, Chathura Abeygunawardhana, and Chathupa Dewasirinarayana achieved the Champions title, showcasing outstanding coding proficiency, analytical skills, and teamwork in a highly competitive environment.
IntelliCon 2022 (AIESEC in SLIIT)
Intellicon 2022, organized by AIESEC in SLIIT, is a premier annual Artificial Intelligence (AI) and innovation convention that brings together students, researchers, and professionals to explore AI trends, participate in hackathons, and engage in networking opportunities that foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
Lakmina Gamage, Sankha Bimsara, Isuranga Warnasooriya, and Iman Thiyanga secured the Champions title in the AI/ML Ideathon at Intellicon 2022, demonstrating exceptional technical skills, creativity, and teamwork in developing innovative AI solutions.

SDG Youth Challenge
The SDG Youth Challenge 2025, organized by the University of Kelaniya, is a competition that encourages students to develop innovative solutions addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants collaborate across disciplines to tackle real-world problems through creative and practical solutions.
Madhura Jayashanka from FIT Batch 21, representing an interdisciplinary team from the University of Moratuwa (IT Faculty), University of Kelaniya (Medical Faculty), and CINEC Campus (Engineering Faculty), secured the Champions title by introducing a product for Silent Aspiration (Assistive Medical Device), demonstrating innovation, teamwork, and real-world impact.

CodeRush 2022 (INTECS - University of Moratuwa)
In a remarkable display of skill, Batch 21 secured the Champions title at CodeRush 2023 as first-year students, surpassing expectations and outperforming the entire Faculty of Information Technology. They competed against experienced participants, including third- and fourth-year seniors, and triumphed to claim the top position.
Team IfElse, consisting of Kalhara Jasin Arachchi, Kavindu Dilshan, Amasha Weerasinghe and Povindu Samarasekara, demonstrated exceptional algorithmic problem-solving abilities and established their early dominance in the competition.
IntelliCon 2024 (AIESEC in SLIIT)
IntelliCon 2024 was an artificial intelligence-focused technology event organized by AIESEC in SLIIT. The event featured a hackathon that allowed participants to push creative boundaries, collaborate with peers, and gain insights from panel discussions on AI and the future of work. It provided a platform for young innovators to explore AI, discover career opportunities, and showcase their technical skills.
Lakmina Gamage, Isuranga Warnasooriya, Sankha Bimsara and Iman Thiyanga participated and emerged as Champions in the Open Category, demonstrating exceptional creativity and innovation.

CodeRush 2024 (INTECS - University of Moratuwa)
CodeRush 2024, organized by INTECS at the University of Moratuwa, is the annual intra-faculty coding competition designed to assess algorithmic thinking, problem-solving skills, and programming excellence among undergraduates.
In 2024, Batch 21 achieved a historic milestone by dominating the entire leaderboard, securing all positions from 1st to 10th place as second-year students — an unprecedented achievement in the history of CodeRush.
This exceptional performance highlighted Batch 21's technical depth, consistency, and collaborative strength in competitive programming.

Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) - Badminton
The Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) is the premier multi-sport event held every three years, bringing together athletes from all state universities to compete across a wide range of disciplines. The Games showcase outstanding talent, teamwork, and competitive spirit among university athletes nationwide.
In the 2025 edition of SLUG, Hevindu, Batch 21, was the key player who led their team to achieve the Champion rank in badminton. The achievement highlighted exceptional skill, strategic play, and strong teamwork on the national stage.

HackX 9.0 (IMSSA - Univ. of Kelaniya)
HackX 9.0 was a premier inter-university startup and innovation competition conducted by the Industrial Management Science Students’ Association (IMSSA) at the University of Kelaniya. The challenge focused on fostering entrepreneurship, creativity, and technical skills among undergraduate students.
Lakmina Gamage, Vishwani Bhagya, Sankha Bimsara, and Thinuri Wijesekara participated with a strong startup concept and achieved the 1st Runner-Up position.

Hackventure (AIESEC - Univ. of Kelaniya)
HackVenture was an inter-university hackathon that brought together student teams from across Sri Lanka to develop and pitch innovative technology solutions within strict time constraints. The event focused on rapid problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and real-world applicability.
Hosted by the Faculty of Computing and Technology of the University of Kelaniya in collaboration with AIESEC, the event encouraged students to tackle real-world problems with practical and scalable solutions.
Sampath Samaraweera, Kavindu Fernando, Gihani Wijekoon, Chamodi Welmilla and Sathsara Sithum impressed the judges with their innovative approach, earning both the 1st Runner-Up and Most Innovative awards for their exceptional project.

Sports & Extracurricular Achievements
The Commonwealth Chess Championship 2023–2024 (Women’s Category) was a prestigious international sporting event held from February 20 to 27, 2024, in Malaysia, organized by the Malaysian Chess Federation in collaboration with Persatuan Catur Melaka. The championship brought together elite women players from across the Commonwealth, including Australia, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, fostering high-level competitive play and sportsmanship.
At the 2023–2024 Commonwealth Chess Championship, Pasindi Wijesuriya secured the 1st Runner-Up position in the Women’s category, demonstrating exceptional strategic thinking, competitive excellence, and consistency against strong international opponents.

Colombo District Division 3 Cricket Tournament - 2025
The Colombo District Division 3 Cricket Tournament was organized by the Colombo District Cricket Association and featured over 100 Division 3 clubs.
Madusaritha Gangamina, Dhananjaya Swarnahansa, Hansaka Rukshan and Tharuka Wijethunga from FIT Batch 21 represented the University of Moratuwa Cricket Club, contributing to the team’s high-level performance, which earned them the Runners-Up title in the competition.

SLIIT Codefest 2022
CODEFEST was organized by the Faculty of Computing at SLIIT in collaboration with the Ministry of Education as a nationwide software competition aimed at advancing ICT knowledge across Sri Lanka. In addition, it was conducted as a part of a CSR project to disseminate IT knowledge throughout the island. The competition has been recognized as a national ICT event since 2015.
Himesh Shiwantha, Haritha Weerathunga, Dasun Madusanka, and Nipun Milinda participated and performed exceptionally, securing the 2nd Runner-Up position.

Coderally 2024 (IIT)
CodeRally 5.0, organized by the IEEE Computer Society of the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), was a 24-hour algorithmic programming hackathon held at the IIT premises in September 2024. The event challenged participants to design efficient, innovative solutions under intense time constraints, emphasizing algorithmic thinking, endurance, and collaboration.
At CodeRally 2024, Chathura Abeygunawardhana, Chathupa Dewasirinarayana, Shenali Gamage, and Himash Shiwantha secured the 2nd Runner-Up position, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and effective teamwork in a highly competitive environment.

Sri Lanka University Games - Cricket - 2025
The Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) Cricket 2025 is a highly competitive inter-university cricket tournament held annually among 16 state universities in Sri Lanka, showcasing talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Madusaritha Gangamina, Dhananjaya Swarnahansa, Hansaka Rukshan and Tharuka Wijethunga from FIT Batch 21 contributed to the University of Moratuwa team, which secured the 2nd Runner Up position, demonstrating exceptional skill, teamwork, and dedication throughout the competition.

Sports & Extracurricular Achievements
The Asian Amateur Women Chess Championship 2022 was a prominent international tournament held in Muscat, Oman, from September 29 to October 5, 2022. The championship featured 51 players from 13 countries, highlighting a high level of competition and international representation across the Asian chess community.
At the 2022 Asian Amateur Women Chess Championship, Pasindi Wijesuriya achieved the 2nd Runner-Up position, demonstrating strong strategic ability, competitive resilience, and excellence in international-level play.

Open Hack 2.0 (Mozilla Campus Club & FOSS Community of IIT)
Open Hack 2.0 was an annual hackathon organized by the Mozilla Campus Club and FOSS Community of IIT. During a 12-hour overnight event, Dinuka Malitha, Madhura Jayashanka, Kavith Rashintha, and Isuru Vithanage from Team Nebula competed against nearly 30 highly competitive teams and secured the Second Runners-Up position, demonstrating strong teamwork, creativity, and technical skill.

Evolve 2024 - Inter University Research Competition (Univ. of Kelaniya)
Evolve 2024, organized by undergraduates of the BSc in Physics and Electronics at the University of Kelaniya, is a prestigious inter-university research and innovation competition. The event encourages students to showcase creativity, technical expertise, and applied research skills through innovative projects that address real-world challenges.
In the 2024 edition of Evolve, Lakmina Gamage, Vishwani Bhagya, Haritha Weerathunga, Kavindu Fernando and Iman Thiyanga secured the 2nd Runner-Up position, demonstrating exceptional research aptitude, innovative thinking, and dedication in a competitive academic environment.

Real Hack 4.0 (IEEE Student Branch - Univ. of Kelaniya)
Real Hack 4.0 2023, organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Kelaniya, is an annual hackathon that challenges teams to develop innovative solutions while demonstrating technical skills, creativity, and teamwork.
Dinuka Malitha, Madhura Jayashanka, Kavith Rashintha, and Isuru Vithanage from Team Nebula were selected as Finalists (Top 15), qualifying for the Grand Finale and showcasing their innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities throughout the competition.

The FISU World University Mind Sports Chess Championship 2024 was an international university-level chess event held from June 25 to June 30, 2024, bringing together student players from 13 countries to compete at a high level of strategic and intellectual excellence.
At the 2024 FISU World University Mind Sports Chess Championship, Pasindi Wijesuriya, representing Team Sri Lanka, secured 4th Place, demonstrating strong competitive performance, teamwork, and advanced strategic skills on the global university chess stage.
